Jessica Shawl's Avon Breast Cancer Walk Page
As many of you know, the weekend of July 12-14 2002, I took on the challenge of walking the 3-day Avon 60 mile walk to raise money to combat Breast Cancer. I have taken on the challenge again! The weekend of June 28-29 2003, I will be joining over 3,000 participants in the Avon San Francisco Breast Cancer Walk. The format has changed this year to a 2-day 39.5 mile walk, and I have a personal goal to raise $2000 in pledges by May 1. If you can help me meet this goal, it would be greatly appreciated. My mother (she and I are pictured here) was diagnosed with the early stages of breast cancer Nov 2001, and has just completed her 1st year as a survivor! I'm so proud of her, and she'll be walking with me this year! Mom's doing so well, largely in part because she has access to regular medical care. Millions of women in the United States do not. The funds raised for this event, will help save the lives of these medically underserved women. Did you know? These are staggering facts, with frightening numbers. The good news is that this is a fight that together, we absolutely can do something about, but I need your help. You know that fundraising can be challenging, but reaching out to help those who will never even know our name is a beautiful example of kindness. You can donate on-line You can even choose to spread out your donation in monthly payments or, if you prefer to write a check, just contact me and I'll send you the form for that. If you would like to learn about my experience last year, please read my journal on my fundraising page from last year Thank you so much for supporting me in this endeavor! Jessica |
